A REMARKABLE ESCAPE

The Rev. J. T. Baglin, incumbent of St. John's Ohurcb of England, Pootscray (Victoria), hnd a remarkable escape from death on Sunday evening, June 30fch. He had been conducting an anniversary service at Royal Park, and on his way homowards had to-run to catch the twelve minutes to eleven train from North Melbourne. Just before the train started he ran forward to set a carringe, but his bag struck his leg, and he slipped as the train was moving off. Be fell headline between two carriages, but by a great effort bo managed to grasp the coupling chniDg, and held on bead downwards by his feet and hands. In this precarious position he wag carried on to South Kensington Station, and during the perilous journey it was almost a miracle that h« was not dragged down under the wheels. His overcoat was torn to shreds wbera it had got under the wheels. Whea the train stopped at South Kensington Mr Baglio was utterly exhausted, had his clothes covered with blood from a wound over the eye, and was badly bruised about the bo^y. He was just able to get on to the platform. He entered a carriage at the station, and rode on to Footscray, where he was attended by Mr J. R. Webb. M. 8., who inserted three stitches in his temple.
