Mr Alfred Peart, formerly of Fox- ! hill, has been appointed a Justice of the Peace. _ When the English mail left on June the 7tb,Hon. F. and Mrs Trask were about to visit Wales and Mr Trask's birthplace in Somerset, which Mr Trask _had not seen for forty-seven years; Mr N* W. Werry, formerly of Wel* lington, has died in Kashmir, India; Miss Blair, formerly of Victoria College, in Wellington, has passed the examination of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science at the London University. The late Prlnoipal"Rainy'-. trustees hate appDinted the Rev. P. Cai?oegie Simpson, of Renfield . United Free Church, Glasgow, tojwrite his biography. Mr Simpson is one of the rising" men of his Church. A memorial tablet has been erected to the late Rev. John Orchard in the Methodist Church in High street, Christchuroh. Rev. Herbert W. Williams has been appointed Archdeacon of Waiapu, and the Rev. David Ruddock as Archdeacon of Hawke's Bay.-
