The attendance was large, including bis Excellency the Governor, Sir Joseph Ward, Hons. Carroll, Millar, and Findlay, and members of Parliament. The sum of £15,308 was passed through the totalisator, being £3856 more than the corresponding dayjof last year. The winning double on the Parliamentary Handicap and Winter Hurdles paid £113 lis. The results were— Stewards' Handioap, six furlongs: St Bill 1, Gawain 2, Jolly Friar 3. Won by a length. Dividends, £5 12s and £1 7s. t Miramar Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs : Wakaraka 1, Truthful 2, Tongaroa 3. Won by two lengths. Dividends, £6 5s and £1 9s. First Haok Hurdles, mile and three-quarters: Stay Boy 1, Waipu 2,* Matakokiri 3. Won by half a length. Dividends, £19 and £3 ls. St. Albert and Waipu were bracketed on the machine. Parliamentary Handicap, one mile: , Ellerton 1, Aelous 2, Kurawaka 3. Won comfortably by half a, length, Kurawaka three lengths away.
