Melbourne, June 22. The police have secured information that just at the time Mr Bauer, the diamond merchant, was murdered, a lady who was ascending the stairs of the Modern Chambers encountered a man who was rushing down. He swept her aside with his arm, the blow causing her considerable pain. She says she noticed an iron bar up the man's sleeve. The man jumped into a waiting vehicle and drovo quickly away.
