Reported Drowning Fatality. — At a very late hour last eight ne heard from the Waimeas that a man had been drowned, and on enquiring of the Police, they stated that they had heard that a man had been drowned at Wakefield. but no particulars were to hand. Nelson Cribbage Association.— Last night a match .was playjsd between the Anglers' Club and the Press, and, after an exciting contest, the Anglers won by thirteen to twelve games. The Recbabites also playßd the Oddfellows last night, and, singular to stste, the result" of the match was similar, the Recbabites winning by thirteen games to twelve. Concert. — A concert will be given in the Presbyterian Church Hall on Friday next. The proceeds will go towards the Church Organ Fund. Suprome Court Business. — The Supreme Court sittings will commence here on Monday morning at half-past ten. The criminal charges are: A charge of theft against a young man nnmed Hughes, from Motueka; a charge of assault, with intent, against a youpg man named Gilmour, from Westport: the same man will come up for sentence, be having pleaded guilty at Westport to having committed an indecent assault. No civil actions are set down for hearing; but three divorce and matrimonial cases are set down for hearing by the Judge alone, namely, Elizabnth Jean Scotc versus William Douglas Scott, Messrs Maginnity and Son appearing for the petitioning wife; James Sitchie versus Catherine Matilda Ritchie, Messrs Kingdon, Glasgow, and Hayes fur the petitioner: David B run ton Scott versus Mary Beverdige Scott, Messrs Kingdon, Glasgow and Hayes for the petitioner. The respondents iv these suits have uot tiled a defence. Some probate business will be brought before the Judge. Maitai Bowling Club.— The an nual meeting of members of this Club will be held at the Masonic social room this evening. Wakapuaka Farmers' Union.—Tomorrow evening, Mr Graham, M.H.R., ;yill deliver an address at Wakapuaka at' the invitation of the local branch of the Farmers' Union, on the Arbitration Act and the Land Bill. ~ Fire.— About half-past eight last, evening a fire was discovered in the smoking room at Waiuui House, but it was conquered in its incipient stages, before any serious damage was done. Several members of the Fire Brigade who had been summoned were promptly on the scene, and assisted in extinguishing the flames.
