Sir J- Ward,on being interviewed, emphatically reiterated his statement that New Zealand would not. follow the example of Australia in withdrawing from the naval subsidy, and said that if necessary New Zealand would double or more her contributions, and not in return ask for increase or make any bargain with respect to the disposition of tbe fleet or any, right *o share in its control.
