A STRUGGLE WITH A SUPPOSED BURGLAR
Auckland, June 19. A resident of Alfred street at Onehunga was awakened this morning between five and six o'clock by hearing a noise in the kitchen. On grasping a revolver and proceeding to inyestigate, he found a strange man in the house. On the intruder being asked his business, he replied "Surely, a man can got a feed in bis house," and it is alleged he immediately closed with his questioner. A desperate struggle ensued, during which chairs were broken and tables overturned, but eventually the stranger was overpowered s and Constable Mellone was sent for, and the intruder was arrested. Prom inquiries made this morning it appeared that the man had sat for some time on the verandah, and had then got into the house, probably by the door, which was not securely fastened. The contention is that a mistake was made by the man in Retting into the wrong bouse, as nothing in the shape of a burglary was attempted, and the arrested party had only been living m the district about a fortnight. The matter was brought up at the Onehunga Police Court this morning, but when accused was called on, he was too ill to appear. The case was adjourned,
