HOCKEY.

FEDERAL V. RICHMOND. This mai;ch was played at the Reserve on Saturday, resulting in a win for Federal by 6 goals to nil. Stephens (2), Thompson (2), Dee, and W. Ryder shot the goals. The game was very fast and open, and severely tested the condition of players. Federal, playing with the sun in their faces, scored twice in the first spell, but under more favourable conditions in the second half increased their score to 6. All the town men played well. Of the forwards, Stephens was probably the best, whlie in the back division, G. Wimsett. E. Nealo and Harford played splendidly, and not a mistake was made by any of them during the game. The country captain (Goodman) played a good game on the wing, but his men do not support him, and he has too often to go on his own. Dr Orford, in goal, seemed a little off color, but . on the whole he played very well. h\ Harford captained the town team, T. Goodman acting in the same capacity for Richmond. Federals greeted the country players witn three cheers on their taking the field, it being the Richmond team's first appearance in town.
