NEW BUILDING FOR THE BLIND.
Auckland, May X The foundation stone of tfje new building for the Jubilee Institue for tbe Blind at Parnell, wag-laid this afternoon by the Hon. ,Geo. Fowlds. Ihe contract for the building is £13,735, and the amount contributed by the Government is £2500. The building, which' is being erected adjoining the.present building, will consist of two stories, and special attention is, being paid to make it as far as possible fireproof. The bequest of the late Mr W. Mason, of Ponsonby, by which the Intsitute will to the extent of more than £10,000 has enabled the erection of tbe new building to be undertaken. A request has been made to the Governent for an increased vote.
