INSTALLATION OF MAYOR.
MR. PIPER'S POLICY
" EFFICIENCY WITH
ECONOMY."
The formal ceremony of installing the Mayor-elect for the ensuing year took place at the Municipal Buildings yesterday at noon, when there were present the Mayor (Mr J. Piper, who is also the Mayor-elect), and Councilors A. A. Grace, W. S. Hampsoo M. Lightband, A. 11. Bisley, W. W. Snodgrnss, J. J. Franklyn, T. A. Field, junr., J, D. Kobertson, and W. McConchia. and about a dozen of the public. The Mayor, who presided, said that for the convenience of the business men in the Council he proposed, after the Councilors had made their declaration to adjourn j the proceedings until the evening, when the usual speeches could be made. After the speeches he said there would be a conference of an informal nature, when matters could be discussed.
Councilors having made the usual declaration, Councilor Lightband was, on the motion of Councilor Grace, seconded by Councilor Hamp : son, voted to the char. The Mayor then took the usual declaration, and said he hoped that the Coucilors would spend a pleasant and profitable time this year.
