The new Gambling Bill did not appear in any way to affect the meet- j ing, the attendance of the public j being above that of last year, while the bookmakers present were in number up to the average. ' The re« suits were— Hopeful Stakes: Verenice 1, Miss Malster 2, } Lady. Rylstone 3. Ten others started. It was a capital race, with an exciting finish, being won by a bead. St Ledger: Poseidon 1, 800 ran 2, Benbow 3. The winner led all the way and won by two and a half lengths. Newmarket Handicap: Ebullition 1, North Head 2, Collarit 3. All started. After a great race up the 3traight Ebullition won by a neck, and half a length separated North Head and Collarit. Sires Produce Stakes: Tongaroa 1, Seobie 2, Boastful 3. Eight started. Won by two lengths, only a head separating the second and third horses. Essendon Stakes: Divdend 1, May King 2, Dyed Garments 3. Eight started. Won by a length and a, quarter. Brunswick Stakes : Red Streak 1, Kaffir Pan 2, Lady Esoie 3. Fourteen others started. Won by a length and a half. _
