•"*• — v christchurch, March 1 A good deal of business is being transacted in wheat, on the basis of 3s per bushel at country stations, but oats are very firmly held and even at the high prices millers are ' now offering. There is no large quantity obtainable. Eecent sales have been :— One thousand bushels Tuscan, 800 of Hunter's, each at 3s per bushel; 600 bushels Hunter's whole fowl wheat at 2s lOd; 1060 bushels Gartons at 29 6d ; 500 bushels Duns vat 2s 4d; 1000 bushels Duns at 2s 6J^d per bushel, all at country stations. A fair quantity of Duns are being purchased by far- ! mers as seed, to sow for winter feed. The seed market is unchanged. The main crop of potatoes is coming forward, and is bringing £4 10s per ton for Early Rose and £5 for white varieties. Onions are quoted at £4 per ton. The quality of both potatoes and onions is very satisfactory.
