LAUNDRY KEEPER FINED

Wellington, Feb 15 To-day, Eliza Coucbman, who conducts a laundry at Petone, was charged at the Police Court with two breaches of the Act, namely, employing women between 6 p.m and 8 a.m without having a permit, and failing to keep an overtime book. It was asserted that some of the young women had been known to faint at their work tables, when they were carried outside for half an hour, and then brought back. She was fined £10, with £8 costs.
