House of Common will support the measure. Mr Hills, on Monday next will move an amendment to the Address, expressing regret that the King's speech made no mention of the Colonial Uonference and failed to refer to the opportunity thereby offered of providing freer trade within the Empire and closer commercial relations with the Colonies on a preferential basis!. At a meeting of fifty- two Tariff Reformers, held in a committee room of the House of Commons Mr Austin Chamberlain stated that Mr Balfour was unwiling to move a Tariff Reform amendment. It was resolved by 41 to 4 to ask Mr Balfour to consent to a Front Bench amendment.
