BAPTIST CONFERENCE
[ Wanganui, October 18. At the Baptist Conference a resolution was carried placißg on record the Conference's sense of the deep disappointment Miss Inglesby muat sufier in her enforced retirement from the Indian Mission Field. It was resolved that the Society observe a week of self-denial to liquidate the debt of £57. The expenditure for the year 1906-7 was estimated at; £1586, and the estimated receipts were £1760. The following allocations were made:— Young People's Committee, £15; Students' Committee £40, Feilding £60, Whangarei £45, Waibi £35, Mount Roskill £65, Epsom £34, Ashburton £20, Kaikorai £30,Petone £40, Oxford £20, North Invercargill £40, Kaiapoi £30, New Plymouth £10, Bicearton £34, Maori Hill £3.10, Owaka £10, Evangelist £25, Sundries £120, total £689. The estimated receipts are £660. The following resolution was unanimously passed on the motion of the Rev. A. "Dewdney: "That this Assembly expresses its* pleasure at the fact that tfco International Exhibition will be free from liuor bars, and its satisfaction that the Government declined to interfere witb the 'decisions of the Elective Committee by legislation on the question, a copy of this resolution to be forwarded to the Premier. " The Conference has now closed.
