Sydney, September 18. . : A meeting of the Broken Hill Proprietary mine workers appointed a committee to report on the stepa to be taken with regard to increased wages. The report will be considered at aimass meeting on the 30th irjst. Adelaide, September 18. The report of the Board of Inquiry into the extensive Customs frauds in the Forwood case exonerated the Customs offioials from blame. The discovery of another set of frauds has created a sensation. The firm concerned in them is of high reputation. No fraud is alleged against the firm, but against agents at Port Adelaide, where Customs operations are conducted, The amount Involved is not so great as in the Forwood acse. Melbourne, September 15. The Federal Government has accepted a joint tender of the Union Company and the Huddarb Parker Company for the mail service. The contract is for three years from October Ist, and provides for a three-times-a-week service between Launceston and Melbourne tbroughot the year for a subsidy of £11,000; and for a service between Melbourne and Burnie, once a week for eight months, and thrice a week for four months of the year, for a subsidy of £2000.
