TO THE EDITOK.
Sir, — I notice in your issue of the 12th Inst. your Takaka correspondent's report of the indignation meeting held here. He states that a third motion asking the Council to seriously consider the action of the Clerk in giv- | ing evidence adverse to the Council's case, was also brought forward, j but met with opposition, anoV was finally dropped. Your correspondent would have been more correct, and fair to the County Clerk, had he stated that an amendment to that proposition, "That this meeting has entire confidence in the County Clerk, was carried almost unanimously.
The speakers to the proposition were strong in exprebsing their disapproval and disgust with the convenors of the meeting (Messrs Sinclair, Hume and J. F. Rose) for allowing the proposition to be brought forward, which, I might add, was so libelloualy worded that I would not ask you to print it in the form as put to the meeting. I enclose herein the report from the "Golden Bay News," which will verify my statement regarding the amendment, Yours, etc., P PAGE. £ Takaka, September 15, 1906. {
