Eight armed Socialists looted a spirit shop at Lodz. Four Cossacks 1 pursued them to a rye field, where \ they fought for six hours. Three of [ the Socialists were killed and five escaped wounded. There was a heated debate in the ' Douma on the Bieloatok massacres, and the Government was warned of the danger of turning a deaf ear to the murmurs of the coming storm which threatened a terrible es- " plosion involving tremendous consequences.
