ROAD BOARDS.

STOKE. The visual monthly meeting of "the Stoke Road Board was held on Saturday. Present: Messrs Coleman, (chairman), H. Lankow, John Beat, J. E. Bartlett, H. C. Jacka and E. Ohisnall. Mmates were confirmed, and the OverseeVs report adopted. The Overseer reported tbat sinoe last meeting, water tables had been cleared and ruts raked in on Aniseed Valley hill road; slips had been

jleared on Rocks road, Aniseed Galley, and about 35 yards "of stuff ;hruwn over the side; culvert, opposite Johntson's bad been renewed) md ruts raked in as far as the Mill, Aniseed Valley; repairs had been done on Orphanage road, Stoke, and the culvert at Paynter's repaired 5 patching had been done on the Railway Station road, and on the back road. Stoke, from Mrs Bradley's to Mundy's bridge. The bridge on Quarantine road had also been repaired and the bridge itself required attention. He had arranged with Mr Black for the supply of gravel from bis property at sixpence per load.. Mr O~*Brien had asked to ha\re bank bn road leading to his property out down another two feet and gravelled. The Chairman, Messrs Lankow and Jacka had visited Ener Glynn in regard to exchange of roads. Mr J. W. Marsden wrote, asking the Board to enforce the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act in regard to properties adjoining his. It was stated that the Inspector had been notified, and instructions had been given to clear. Messrs G. N. Taylor and Fell, Jackson and Rout wrote, requesting the Board to throw open Poor Man's Valley road to the top of the Valley; — Referred to the member fot ; the district, with full powei 1 to act. The Matter of repairs to bridge near Gibson's, back road, Stoke, -was left in the hands of the Overseer. Resolved to procure another two bushels of poisoned grain. Resolved that the exchange oi roads at Enner Glynn be carried out. with regard to all that portion of the road in the Stoke Riding, arid that the Chairman be authorised to sign the transfer on behalf of the Board. Resolved to put a few loads, of gravel on best's road near O'Connell's Corner. The question of whether the Board should clean out a ditch on Strong's road was brought up by Mr Lankow, and it was resolved that ho action be taken, as the Bdard did liot, clean out ditches that drained private property. , • , . , In reference to the sraal' birds nuisance, it was resolved to pay 3d for heads and 2d 3 for eggs. Accounts amounting to £111 5s 5d were passed for payment.
