MR. CHAMBERLAINS' BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS.

Participators id Saturday's Birmingham festivities in honor of Mr Chamberlain's birthday were entirely local- Replying to the Mayor's proposal of his health, Mr Chamberlain was deeply iiioyed, tvhe'n b.6 had an immense reception. Recovering himself, he'dwelt on the dignity and importance of local patriotism, and j said: "What 1 am, good or ill, Birmingham has made me. I have tried to interpret the spirit, the strong convictions, the great idea's, the frank expression, and the earnest endeavors of the town." Thß tariff reformers throughout, the country met during the weeK, and passed congratulatory resolutions for presentation at Biogley Hall on Monday. . j
