POULTRY NOTES.

(By "Chanticleer.' 5 ). The total number of enrtries for the local Show is 944, which constitutes a record. Taking into consideration that several entries are trios, there should be about 1000 birds penned. Game,Wyandottes, Orpingtons and tbe Runner Duekß are the strong classes. The judges will have no easy task. However, the judges have all good reputations, and the Society is to be congratulated on their selection. Several outside fanciers will compete, while, in addition to our locally bred stock, many local fanciers have this year imported birds from Australia and elsewhere. The one thing necessary now to make the fixture a success is fine weather. The heavy rains of last week ending with a heavy fall of enov* I ' seems to favour a fine spell now. Exhibitors will do well to get their birds penned as early as possible to-morrow evening. Reccollect that^, the Stewards have all the country exhibits to pen after the train arrives, as well as get exhibits from other places. Finally, do not'be disappointed if the other fellow gets the tickets.. We" cannot all have them, and after all it is only ona man's opinion as to the merits or demerits. Let us make up our minds -to be true sportsmen in this little matter: it will go far towards promoting good feeling, and making the annual fixture a really "friendly contest." At Blenheim last week several of our local fanciers "scored." We notice the names of Messrs Baigent and Betts, Coleman, Savage, Stringer and Snodgrass; It will be interesting to note bo.w the exhibits of these fanciers will come out in oiir own Show. Among recent importations, may be mentioned a very nicely laced Silver Wyandotte cookerel, imported by Mr A. G. Betiß from Double Bros., the well-known Invercargill fanciers. We should very much like to see R. O. King's' Silver Wyandotte pullet come to the Nelsoa

[Show. She \vM first in a Class of (fifty entered for the Ekttth Fsfnmi Championship.
