While sheep increased in Australia from 1902 to end of 1904 when there were only 54,000,000 to 66,000,000, or 22 per cent, wool increased from 988,000 bales in 1903 to 1,420,000 bales in 1905, an increase of 44 per cent, or double the percentage of increase in the number of sheep growing the wool; accounted for by improvement of wool-growing capacities of sheep, which is mainjy effected by the intelligent application of the law of Evolution".
