APPLEBY NOTES.

[From Our Own Correspondent.] The interest of the whole district 19 at present centred on the coming Swimming Sports, to bo held at the local bachs on Saturday afternoon next. Splondid entries have been received from the Nelson Club, and tho inter-club events shoukl^provide good sport and close linishes. The local swimmers are training hard but have not quite struck championship form, although they have improved considerably since the boginning of the season. They hope to learn a good deal from the town men. The school events, especially the championship, are envoking great enthusiasm amongst the school boys, several schools being quite confident that their school will carry off the honours.
