At the Police Court to-dayj Frank Heriot Laing was charged with contracting debts While still an undischarged batikrupt, also with having by rash and hazardous speculations andl gambling 'contributed to his bankruptcy. The accused had to account for £2,594, but he only accounted for £1260, leaving £1324 unaccounted for, The Official Assignee put his assets down as under twenty pounds. The accused put into the Court a written confession, |aud {pleaded guilty to|j the charges. He was sent to the Supreme Court for sentence.
