The Hon. C. Louisaon, M.L.C., who has agreed to stand for the Mayoralty of Christen urch for Exhibition year, waa Mayor of Chrislchuich in 1888 1889 and in 1898-99. The Bishop of Wellington has gone to Christchureh to officiate at the marriage of Mies Julius, daughter of .Bishop Julius, so the Kev. A. Z» Hansell. Mr D, Johnson, Collector of Customs in Wellington, spends his months' leave of absence at Nelson. Mr J. A. Gilruth. the Chief Government Veterinarian, has just received news of tbo death of his father at Seaton, in Scotland. Mr James Moore, a rospeeted settler of Johnsonville, has passed away. He came to the colony 49 years ago. The marriage is announced of Mr Harold Renall, of Cartorton, and Miss Myra Luxton. MrJ. P. Armstrong, who died the other day, was tho first dentist to start in Dunedin, where he resided for forty-five years. He sat for eight years in the Otago Provincial Council* He took a lively interest in Masonic affairs, and was one of the founders of Lodge Dunedin. He was 78 years of age.
