Held Orer.— Owing to pressure on our space, the leading article, reports, etc., are held over.

Bowls.— Owing to the wet weather yesterday afternoon the opening of the Maitai Bowling Club's season did not eventuate. $ The Committee met, and decided to have the opening next Saturday afternoon.

The Citizens' Band.— The Citizens' Band'will visit the Mental Hospital to-night, and will play from 7 to 7.30 in the grounds." The Band will also supply music for the dances, and no doubt a pleasant evening will be sptnt. l <z

The Holiday Question.— A representative meeting of shopkeepers was held in Mercer's rooms on Tuesday evening, to consider the question of observance of hoildays in Nelson, Mr T. Condell being voted t« the chair. After discussion it was resolved to form an Association of Retailers, and a Committee, consisting of Messrs Smith, W. Dee, J. F. Hardey, R. Allan (Hardy street), R. Allan (N.Z.0.P. ). P. Healy, A. Karsten, and the Chairman, was set up to draw up rules for the guidance of the Association, and submit them to another meeting' to be called. It was agreed that there should be unanimity in regard to the closing on : certain holidays, and it was thought that at present the Association should confine itself to this question, but later on it might extend its operations in other^direc- 1 tions. #&*•# ..• __ , ' 'J^m. * The"No-License Campaign.— A NoLicense meeting is advertised for tomorrow evening, at 8 o'clock, in the Schoolhouse, Hillside.
