Drainage at the Morgue. — In giving evidence at the inquest yesterday, Dr Andrew drew attention ..to the drainage at tbe morgue. He said it appeared to him that it came, but on to a path in the gardens, and he could not find means of taking this drainage, away. At present the blood-stained fluid from a post mortem examination poured on to the. path, whers it could be seen by the ! public walking in th 6 gardens. Nehon Rifle Cadets. — There will be a parade of this Company at half-past seven this evening opposite the Police Station, and it Will bo observed that absentees are to bo fined. The meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union will be held this afternoon, at threo o'clock, in the Methodist Schoolroom, where all women are cordially invited to attend. "Nelson Jockey ' Club.— A special meeting of the Nelson Jockey Olub will be held at the Trafalgar Hotel to-morrow eveuing nt eight o'olock, to confirm the appointment of officials, and transact other business that may be brought forward. Heavy Pall of Rain. — • A vary heavy downpour of rain occurred between balf-past eight and half-past nine yesterday morning, and the low-lying grounds were quickly flooded. Traffic in Lower Hardy street, Vanguaid "'street and Lower Bridge street was impeded for a while, as is usual when a fall of tbe nature happens, but the flooded water soon subsided. A Runaway. — Narrow Escapes. — Just before half-past nine yesterday morning, the horses attached to a Palace car, which was standing near the Albion wharf, bolted while the driver was a little way distant from the car. A "lady, Mrs Lunn, who had just arrived from Motueka, was seated in the car with two children when the borses took fright, and Mr Wildman, mate of oce of the Anchor Line steamers, was also on the car. When the horses ran away, Mr Y/'ildman climbed forward, and took Mrs ijtinn's baby, with which he jumbed clear, and Mrs Lunn also jumped out without injury, but we hear that Mr Wildman -sustained an injury to one bane. A little girl of nine remainyd in the car till it was eventually brought to a stop at the Normanby bridge by Messis T. Woodward aud C. Cotton. At the Port, Mr Burford and Mr King attempted to stop tho runaways, but without success. Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association. — At the meotng of the General Commitee of this Association, h9ld on Saturday evening, the President moved that a letter of sympathy be sent to Mr Percy Adams in connection with his late bereavement, seconded by Mr Godfrey Bost, and carried unanimously. It was resolved that the Secretary be instructed cot to issue tickets or voting papers for the election of officers to any member who is more than two years in arrean; with his subscriptions. It was further resolved that it be a recommendation to'the Finance Committee that all members so in arrears be written to, and if no reply be received within a reasonable time, that proceedings be taken to recover same.
