REVOLT IN CAUCASUS.
.Received September 10, 4.19 p.m. St. Petersburg, September 9. A thousand Armenians and workmen seized the hospital at BalaKhany. They ignored a summons to surrender, and killed a gunner. 'The troopß then opened fire, and their guns sent shells crashing into the hospital, killing many inside. The Armenians quitted cover, and assailing the gunners with boiling oil, captured the guns under cover of the smoke, and repelled the Cossacks. The infntry on approaching recaptured the guns. All the Britishers at Baku arc safe board a steamer, but four who were foodless and waterless, were surrounded by Tartars at Baalkhang, and it is feared they have perished in the flames. A partial pacification of the outbreaak at Baku was effected when re inforcements arrived, also & supply of bread. The ireinforcements were sent to Shusha, despite reassuring official messages. Private telegrams report the wholesale massacre of Armenians. Four hundred were hemmed in in a court yard in a suburb of Baku ; they sent a frantic request to the Governor for assistance, but none was forthcoming, and all were killed by the Tartars and troops. In the villages of Duduktchu, Achial, Akburaes, and Carmantahi, in the government Elisabetpol, a large proportion of the inhabitants has been put to death ; the rest fled. All the houses have been plundered and burnt. . . Thousands of Tartars are beseiging the Armenians at Zabrata.
