AGENT-GENERAL'S RE-PORT.
The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London, 13th inst:— "The mutton market is quiet. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 4.l£d per lb, and for North Island mutton 3?sd per lb. There is dull sale for heavy carcases. The lamb market is firm, and there is better demand. The average price to-day for New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brand, is o%d to s?sd per lb. There is a better demand for beef. The avevage price to-day for hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3% per lb : for forequarters 2V^d per lb. The butter market is dull. The price of choicest New Zealand butter to-day is 93s per cwt; Danish, 995. The cheese market is steady. The average price of finest New Zealand cheese to-day is 55s per cwt. The hemp market is depressed. The price of New Zealand hemp, "good fair Wellintgon's grade, on spot, to-day is £28 per ton. The price of Manila hemp, fair current grade, on spot, to-day per ton is £4.0. There has been no alteration in the cocksfoot seed market since I«i3t week's report. The wool market is strong, and all stocks are advancing. The market, is firm owing to reduced supplies.
