Wellington, March 21. The Mrs Athol Reader referred to in the cable messages to-day was the wife of an ex-resident of Wellington, a son of the late Colonel Reader. ; Mrs Athol Reader is an American woman, and an operator on Wall ■ street. The blight which recently atacked the potato crops in the Hutt district has spread to tomatoes, and ruined a the bulk of the crop. The Agricultural Department reco aimends that plants which show signs of the disease should he immediately pulled up and burned, and that spraying . should be resorted. to in cases where the blight has not yet made its appearance.
