THE ALPINE MINE.

[B? Telbgbape.] [From Our Own Correspondent]. Reefton, March 12. The Alpine Mine manager reports : — No. 12 level, north, has been extended 12 feet. The reef cut out on Monday night, and I extended the level a few feet without any improvement. On Wednesday evening I stoped the north face, and started raising for a Btope about midway on the block riße, which is up 6ft 6in, and two sets are going in to-night. The reef is bix feet wide in the rise. The intermediate level is extended four fee*, making a total from the rise of 37 feet. A rise was also put up to the second stope at the end of the intermediate 10 feet for a pass. The reef is 3ft 6in in the second stopa going south. I intend driving this stope on before extending the intermediate any further south. In the north end of No. 11 the level has bean repaired, rails laid, down, chamber of winue repaired, and a start made to clean out the winze.
