A motorman named Moyes gave evidence that on December %% he reported that the track brake on car 3§ (double deck car), which ran off on Christmas eve, would not apply, and again on December 23rd he gave the same report. He mentioned the matter to the motor inspector one d,ay, and wrote it on his waybill both days. He got the Cdnductor to screw down | the brake, and got below the car to look at it. He found that it just touched the rail, but there was no pressure. The Tramway Company called the motor inspector, who said Moyes told him the track brake was "a bit crook," but he could manage with it all right. The matter being put that way the motor inspector did not pay much attention to the reportThe motorman who ran the car on the morning of the accident, was also called, and said he found the track brake a bit stiff, bui quite effective. He ran the car six trips, and used the track brake each trip. Mr Carey, the chief electrical enenginner to the Company, gave expert evidence. The enquiry will conclude tomorrow.
