LITERATURE FOR THE YOUNG.

. Speaking at the Cathedral, Christchurch, Bishop Julius condemned the general tendency of the literature of the period as likely to do a great deal of harm. He advocated the formation of libraries specially for the young generation, not necessarily altogether of the Sunday school type of literature, but something purer and more wholesome than the generality of the novels which were now published. If this were carried out, he felt that a good deal of harm which was now being 3one to the rising generation by literature of the kind to which he referred, would be counteracted.
