CHINAMAN BEATS BRITISHER.
To the Editor. Sir,— We read about protective trade rights etc., but here we are in a small community nat only support-" ing but paying money that will be taken out of the Colony. I allude^to the custom of buying vegetables from Chinamen. The old settlers of Nelson suffer through them. The ehopkeepers of Nelson suffer through them. It is really absurd (if not worce) to hear people prate of loyalty and patriotism, whilst they can have the same article at the same pricefrom their own countrymen. And yet patronise, support, and have calling: at their doors John the Chinaman. Trusting you. Mr Editor, will see the justice of these remarks and express your^opinion on them. Yours etc.f BRITISHER.
