MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

From the "Colonist," April 30th.. The poll was taken yesterday for the^return of twelve Councilors for the City of Nehon, and, though the voting proceeded quietly, a good deal of interest was taken in the election, the fact that over a thousand citizens recorded their votes showing that the people are not careless of their responsbilities. The results were not known till about midnight, and these show that two of the old Councilors have been rejected, the consequences being that there are four new members in the Council. The results are as follows: —

THE RICHMOND ELECTION. The election for Mayor at Richmond resulted in the return of Mr J. M. Croucher, who received 89 votes! to Mr W. D. Harkness 44. The voting for the six Councilors was very close, and resulted in a tie between Messrs Coleman and Hart for the sitxh place, and the Returning Officer gave his easting vote in "favor 3f Mr Coleman, being guided in his 3hoice by the positions held by the 3ame candidate at a previous elec;ion. ; Tihe figures were^as follows: — Sleeted— Messrs James Hunt, 111 • r. F. Papps, 100; A. Sheat, 96; T. Jlasgaw, 92; C. E. Molesworth, 89: V. Coleman, 82. Mr William Hart Iso received 82 votes, and Mr Jeorge Silcock 44.
