INDEPENDENT ORDER OF RECHABITES.
The quarterly meeting of the Buc , of Promise Tent, 1.0. R., was helc on April 14, in the Rechabite Hall, P C.R. Bro. Boyes presiding, anc ! there was a fair attendance of mem- ' bers. The first business was the elec- ! tion' of a trustee, and Bfo. F. A. Atkinson was duly elected. The Secretary read the balance sheet, which shows a membership of 106, the funds of the Tent being £2,316 10s 9d. The sick claims for the 1 quarter amounted to j620 6s Bd. Two new members were initiated during 1 the quarter. The quarterly accounts, amounting to £47 6s 4d, were passed for payment. It was resolved to challenge the Wakapuaka Foresters to a friendly game of. cribbage, time and place to be arranged. Brothers S. F. Sherwood, J. M. : Calder, and E. E. Boyes, the representatives to the District Council meeting recently held at Christchurch, gave their report of the proceedings. The official report gives three new branches established, the District having now l &3 branches of adult members, and 13 juvenile
1859, being an increase of over 200 since last report. The funds amount to JG31,050, the sick experience having been 1563 weeks 2 days, being at the rate of 1 week 9% hours. The sum paid in sick claims was £1,391, being at the rate of 19s per member. The Christchurch brethren had made very complete arrangements for the reception and entertainment of the delegates, who were kept busy with the business of the meeting and responding to the claims of the hosts, which consisted of moonlight ex^ cursion to Sumner, trip, to Kaiapoi Woollen Mills, garden party, and banquet.
