Labor Trouble.
Chri ; tcburch, Vfirch 19,
The Christchurch Furniture Trade - Union held a meeting last evening, and decided to make a levy of 5s a week in aid of the workers involved in the Auckland dispute. The first instalment of the levy was made this morning. A suggestion was made by the Uunedin Union that the levy should be 10s a week, but the Christchurch Union considers that 5s a week is sufficient, and it has decided to ask other Unions to contribute a similar sum.
The award in the bakery trade having expired, fresh proposals made by the Union were before the Conciliation Board to-day, and were partly heard. The hearing, will be continued next Thursday.
