The Medical Association. —The President* picnic in connection wi th the Medical Conference was held on Saturday. Cable Bay being chosen id place of Aniseed Valley* as originally intended. Perfect weather was experienced, and the outing proved most enjoyable. Proposed New Bowling Club.— A meeting in connection with the proposed new Bowling. Club wiU be held at the Commercial Ho t»|l.. this Evening, Wh&n ths report of th& committee appointed to gain certain information will be considered. . The ' Volunteers.— The monthly Government inspection parade fori infantry corps is fixed on the programme of dates for We,dr(^sd6y e^edr ing next.— Tha annual meeting of the Nei'soh Rifles will be held at Mercer's Cycle rooms this evening at half -past seven. Candidates for membership are invited to be present. A Complaint.— The Rev. H. Braddock, who is conducting a mission at the Cathedral, complains, and justly so, of the calico notice of the mission services, which was put up at the foot of the Church Hill by arrangement with the Municipal authorities and the Churchwardens, being torn down and destroyed on Saturday night. The following gentlemen have be»n selected by the " Moderate '' party as can- 1 didaiea to reoeive tha support of the party at the forthcoming election. The names of the nominators are also gi? en. The Temperance party will consider the matter to-night. Government Pmza Monet. — At a meeting, held on Saturday evening, it was decided that the meeting to fire for the Government prize money available for Volunteers and members of Defence Rifle Clubs, be held on Saturday next, tbe 14th, and the Wednesday afternoon following 18th, on the Toi Toi Valley range. Mr \*f • Wilkens was appointed Secretary. Neison Sailing. Club. —On Saturday afte/noon the final heat for the trophy given by the Commodore of the Nelson Sailing Club was competed for. The Rose and Violef, each having six points from the two previous heats, started at 3 10 p.m in a fresh breeze. The Rose from tho start took the lead, and maintained Jit throughout, finishing at 4.11 p.m, the Violet arriving home two minutes later. Messrs Kirkpatrick & Co advertise that they are now prepared to make arrangements with growers for a supply of tomatoes this season, A Reminder —At B"anley Brook, on Wednesday next, Messrs W. Meeting oe Temperance Workers. —The Temperance workers are invited to meet this evening at eight o'clock at the Church of Christ, Waimea street, to consider the approaching Licensing Committee election. ' Musical and Dramatic Entertainment.—The entertainment to be given on Thursday and Friday next promises to be a gre%t success in every sense, and certainly the attractions offered should* ensure large attendances. The Gipsy concert will be a novelty, and marches, dances, and living statutory will be the media for some fine spectacular effects. Pilfering erom Yacht*. — We learn that a great deal of annoyance and no- little loss has been caused to local yachtsmeni through the pilfering from boats at their moorings which has lately taken place, Such things as stores, provisions, etc., have been removed, and in one.instance a railing smashed down in Order to secure some brass pins.
