Weimngton, January 22, The opening day of the Wellington Racing Club's summer meeting wa3a great success. The weather was glorious, and there was a record attendance, about seven thousand, including visitors from all parts of the Colony. Speculation was brisk, the sum of £13,937 going through the totalisator, as against £9,043 for the corresponding day of 1901. The results were : — Anniversary Handicap: Wind Whistle 1, Livonia 2, Menura 3; divs £5 123 6d and £6 33. Raupehu Hack Handicap: Narcotic 1, Good Intent 2, Waikanae S; divs £9 Is and £1163, - Wellington Cup I Advance 1, Hinetaura 2, Cannie Chiel 3. All started, Advance, who was a hot favorite, came through the field a quarter of a mile from home, and won with great ease ay two lengths. Time 2min* 34 l-sseoß, a record for the colony. Divs £1 9s and £2 7s 6d. Electric Handicap: Petrovna 1, Turepo 2, Hohoro 3; divs £6 8a 6a »nd £3 11s, Wellinßton Stakes! Achilles 1, King Lo« 2; div £1 6s. Tangariio Hack Handicap: Good Intent 1, Cumulus 2, Weh.enga 3; divs £6 4s 6d and £$148; -
