Conference of Horticultural Delegates.

At tbe Conference of the Delegates from Horticultural Sooieties, a number of papers were read and discussed, including one on bee-culture. A resolution was passed that, with a view to whelping bee culture, the Government should appoint a bee expert ; that the Government be recommended to pass legislation to enable tbe Agricultural Department to deal with foul brood.

The " Conference closed to-night. The draft of a Constitution of a National Horticultural Society was adopted, and a provisional Committee appointed, with Mr A. Bathgate as President, The Orohard and Garden Pests Bill, as amended by the Committee appointed, was adopted, and the Government is to be urged to speedily pass it. The Auckland members dissented on the ground tbat until a specific has been discovered for codlin moth, such a measure would unduly harrass fruit growers. The fruit show was largely attended today, about £150 being taken at the doors.
