Thieves at Work.
Clever Capture. Wellington, April 14. Shortly before midnight on Saturday, one of the city night-watchmen, going into the yard of Messrs Nathan & Co.'s warehouse, startled a man who was already there, and who promptly bolted into the street, and, though pursued, made good his escape. The policeman on the beat observing what had happened bletr his whistle for assistance, and a cordon was drawn round the building, in order to prevent the exit of any possible confederates. A long search in the building was finally rewarded by the officers unearthing a man, who gave the name of Alfred Burrell, He was hidden behind a pile of boxes. He was removed to the Police cells. The men had apparently been after tobacco
as two or thre6 B xes were found in the yard, and one on the ledge of the window which had been opened.
