Pollard's Opera Company.
This Company for the benefit of (he ohild 1 ten gave a performance on Saturday after- • noon, when " Djin-Djin" was produoed to t the delight of several hundred juveniles, who were demonstrative in their applause. On Saturday evening there was a good j attendance, when "Uncle Tom's Cabin" r was successfully produoed. The scsrjes f were effective, particularly those referring ■ to the deaths ol little Eva and Uncle Tom. Mr W. 8. Percy as Uncle Tom ; Bliss Eily O'Sullivan bb Eva; Master C. Albert as | Topsy ; Miss M. BeaUy as George Harris ; 1 Mr Alf. Stephens as Simon Legree ; Mr H. 1 Quealy as Marks, the lawyer ; and Miss 1 M. Mitchell, aa Eliza, were particularly | good. The duet and dance by the two ' Hotentots made a hit, and the performers ; were re-called. The orchestral music was ' of the best, adding greatly to the enjoyment ' of the performance. ' The last performance of the season will be given this evening, when the sparkling i opera entitled the " Gondoliers " will be s produced. No doubt many will avail them- ) selves of enjoying the treat of listening to ; the splendid music and vocalisation. The I Company will leave late to-night for New , Plymouth en route for Auckland. r
