Wellington', September 3.^ Another effort is to ba made to obtain > salvage fcora the wreck of the steamer Tasmania. The purchasers of the sunken ' vessel, Mr Rothschild, of Wellington, and ' Mr Moss, of Dunedin, have associated j themselves with about half a dozen Auckland residents, who have chartered a small ; schooner in that port to go to the wreck flno assist in an attempt to recover the jewellery (valued at about £1500), which Mr Rothschild left in his cabin when the vessel was sinking, and at the same time steps will be taken to get at the mails. Mr Pascoe, , diver, belonging to Wellington, has been ■ engaged, ami will leave for Auckland by the s.s. Rotoiti to-ittozrow, in order to join the schooner. If the diver'a report is satisfactory a large company will be formed to recover the cargo, and probably to try ami raise the steamer.
