THE LIFE-BELT LODGE.

On Saturday Aug. 20th. a Good Templar Lodge was instituted here. Prior to the ceremony a public meeting was held in the Foresters' Hall, when Bro J. W. Win, the District Deputy, presided, and members from the Loyal Nelßon, Loyal Marine, and Dovedale Lodges contributed songs, duett, recitations, and addresses. The Rev W. C. Woodward also took part, and gave an excellent address. After the meeting the new Lodge was instituted, and the election and installation of officers took place. Bro J. Win, the District Deputy, and Bro Eev W. C. Woodward were the instituting officers, and they were assisted by Sisters Kenyon (2), Watson (2), Bateman, and Win, and Brothers Watson, Croudis, Calder, Day (2), Stewart, A. Win, Smith, Mitchener, and Bond. The name given to the new Lodge was The Life-belt. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Chief Templar, Bro Moffatt; Vice Templar, Bro Walter Cooke; Secretary, Sister G.I Delany; Treasurer, Bro Francis Fry; Financial Secretary, Sister K. Delany; Chaplain, Bro Rose ; Guard, Bro Duncan ; Sentinel, Bro King; Deputy Marshal, Sister E. Delany ; Assistant Secretary, Bro Burnard; Lodge Deputy, Sister Moffatt. Nineteen members were enrolled and duly initiated. It was announced that after Bro Woodward's lecture on Monday evening a Lodge of Instruction would be held, when several other persons would be initiated as members. Under the careful driving of Mr F. Haase, the roads being very heavy, the Nelson contingent arrived safely home at eight o'clock on Sunday evening, being well pleased with the pleasant outing, and the hospitality of the Mo'meka people.

A Cobbection.— Owing to a'typographical error in the account of the institution of the Life-Belt Lodge at Motueka, mistakes were made in one or two of the officers elected— Bro Bunard was elected as Past Chief Templar; Bro Evans as Assistant Secretary ; and Bro. H. Fry as Marshall.
