WAKAPUAKA.

(fbom oub own corbespondknt.) Accidents on the road through our diatriot are, fortunately, not very frequent, and when they do happen I am glad to say that serious results are not often met with. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs and Miss Weller were driving home from town, and when near the Clifton School the mail coach came in view, whereupon the horse attaohed to the private carriaga took fright and bolted, both Mrs Weller and Miss Weller being thrown out of the vehicle. The horse galloped on, and on entering Mr Weller's gate the trap struck against the post, and a smash-up was the result. lam pleased to say that beyond receiving a severe shaking neither of the ladies sustained serious hurt. Influenza is now very prevalent amongst the horses in this district, and I have heard of one having died from the effects. With careful attention, however, they soon recover.
