BLUE MOUNTAIN MURDERS.
Ban Fbancisco, February 10. Butler, the supposed Mew Sonth Wales murderer, has admitted that be ones went nnder the name of Riohard Asobe, and he dtclareß that Harwood is stili living ii London to day, but be doss not intend to tell why he assumed Harwood's name. He said he had a dozen aliases,' some of whioh he had forgotten. He states that early in 1895 he went to Afrioa and afterwards returned to Australia. He said " I can prove that I was not in Australia when some of the murders oharged against me were committed. " He added that bis family lived near Hull, but be refused to say where. Butler was completely stunned on being accused of tbe murder of Preston. A newspaper containing tbe details of this murder was produced, and aaoused was astonished. Constable Conroy explained how the direct evidence had been obtained of Weller and Butler baying gone to the Blue Mountains together unaaoompanied by a third person. Eta Butler, of Napa, who olaimed the aooused aa ber husband, now admits that she made a mistake.
