JUNIOR CUP. PIRATE A Y. COLLEGE. At the Park on Wednesday last the Collegians played havoc with the Pirate A team for the Junior Cup. It was expected that the College would win by a large margin, hardly however, as large as 66 points to nil, as was the case. The Pirate team is a very poor one, and became completely demoralised in the second spell. In the first spell the Collegians scored five tries, E. Mules converting four of them into goals, thus scoring 23 points out of a possible 25. In the second spell, the scoring became simply a procession, the fine passing of the winners assisting to add no less than 43 points ; E. Mules placed five more goals, but towards the last went off in his kicking, missing six, P. Mules failed in his only attempt at goal. The individual scorers were — N. Fell, 5 tries ; P. Mules, 4 ; Armstrong, 3 ; Stuckey, 3 ; Houlker, 1, Mr Dee refereed. The College team is famous for making record scores, as last year it put up a total of 47 against the Nelson juniors. However, the Pirate A team has wrested this " honor : ' from the dark blues, and may hope to keep it for some considerable time. Had all the tries been goaled on Wednesday, the result would have been 80 points to nil ! With our Collegians fairly on their mettle this year Mr Firth may expect to have the football dignity of his school lowered to-morrow week. An mpott.^n Junior Cap match is en the board for to-morrow at the Park. The game ia between the Pirates B and Nelson teams acd tbe s:n gdo is likely to be a most keen one. Should the Pirates win, tin Junior Cup will be theirs for the yeur, whiht on tbe othor hand if th 9 Nelsonians win, it will enable tbe College team wbo were beaten by the liratdP, to come into the competition a^ain, and a final ronnd between tne 'rio must be played. Both teams are in he vy training. Tha Pi ates will be represented by Messrs Chapman, H Linkhorn, F Nesbitt, Levien, Young, W Linkhorn, Spenoer, Babbit, J Nesbiit, Smith, Weir, Goodman, Barnett, Miller (2) ; emer. Remnant and Rob:rtBon. This matoh is to start punctually at 215 pm. Tne College team, similar to ihat which played on Wednesday wiU travel to Richmond to engage tho suburban clab to-morrow. The Waimeas wil) be repiesent^l b? t! c following : Mes rs S the-hy, H-jmaiocd, O'Connor, E Do.-t, Brook (2), Strawbridfce, Boffel, Fowler, Robbie, Olaridge, Clark, G Best, Elli3, May, Limmir. A representative practise will be held at 4 o'clock to-morrow afternoon at the Park, and tho fallowing 6 re requested to turn out and f?ive the repre.-entaiivea a gsmr : — Full beek — Bird. Three-qasrUrs— Ha'l, DeVere, Miller, McDonali, H. Sigley. Five-eighth — N.Lovien. Halt-back— MiMs. Wing^ Pvk = Robinson. Forw.ri- Nalce--, fccoletiield, Frank, P^r.ny, Littlejohn, Mabin, H. Higgins, Watson, Milner, Yonng. Tbe representative team haß not yat been definitely chorea. The represent itives are requestei to procure tha proper Bugby Union colors. It iB doubtful whether C. Nesbitt will be fit to play against tbe West Coast team, as he is at present suffering from a swollen knee. It is also reported that the College men in the team have backed out. It is hoped however, for the sake of Nelson football, acd the honor of the province, that such is no; tha case. The services of the Collegians are never available when a team is Eent away from tha district, but when the matohes are played on the home ground, they should, especially after offering their services to the Ru*by Union in the practice game to deoide a choice of men, ke allowed ta join io, and bo help to raise the preßtige of the gama here.
