Summary.

NELSON DRAMATIO CLUB'S ENTERTAINMENT. Thkre was a good attendance at tbe Theatre on Sept 3, when the members of the Ne'son Dramatic Club produoed H Byron's three-aot comedy rntitled "Partners for Life," for tbe bons fit of the Hospital funds. Mr T. Shone had a teavy task in sustaining the character of Mr Mervyn, the country gentleman of a very susceptib'e nature, and Mr Shone deeervef* credit for his oareful playing. Mr T. Vercoe evidently has a oapacity for p aying comedy, and he concentrated his ability in the euoceseful pour* trayal of the ounoing, eaves-dropping Mua;gles, the too confidential servant of Mr Mervyn. Mr Baker played excellently the part of Tom Gilroy, the young barris'er who was secretly roamed to Funny Smitb. Mr Baker lobes no point so ra~efal is be to make oomplete his impersonation. Mrs. T. Vercoe made a good impression in the oharaoter of Emily Mervyn, which she played wi h spirit Bnd suooeae. With htr graceful ease and naturalness Mrs B. Watson wen favor as Fanny Smith, while as Miss Prisoilla (a lady of uncertain age) Miss L zzie Wa'son was vivaciouß, piquant, and amusing. Aa Ernest (Mr Mervyn's nephew) Mr A. Johnson des ryes mentioning for bis creditable effort. The minor characters wero taken by Miss Higgins, Mr It. Watson, Mr C. Milroy, and Mr B. Johnson. The members of the Club are to be complimented and congratulated on the suocess of the performance. Mr T. Leonard deserves commendation for the artistio manner in wbich be dreesed tha stage for the seen > in Mr Mervyn's hoaee, theso ne eliciting upphuise from the audience. Mr Martin's String Band supplied some pleasant and enjoyable oicheatial musio during th*j evening.
