Ambulance Stbetcheb. — The local Polioe Station has just been furnished with a requisite whioh should be found at all city stations — an ambulance stretoher. This stretoher has been forwarded from Wellington, and is admi'ably adapted to meet all possible requirements. The stretcher, witb handles at each end, is placed on a coupe of light wheel-i. so that, unless it ia necessary tbat the injured person should be carried, pretty rapid progress oould be made with any burden. In a c-ise where carrying is necessary, the stretoher can be de taohed from the oarriage in a seoond or two. The bed is of tightly stretobed canvas, r-iise-i at ono end, and if it is found impossible to remove an injured person from the stretoher the canvas could be detached from the woodwork very quickly and simply and tbe frame lifted away, leaving the canvas under the person. Tbere is also a canvas cover for use in a case where a body has to be carried. It is well that such a oonveuience should be at the Station, but we hope that it may be long before the necessity arises for i r s use. The progress that has been made in the rearing and training of homing pigeons, and which tbe Clob bas done so much to foster, was alluded to, and it was stated that a considerab'e number of raoes bad taken plaoe during the year, the most interesting having been the series of races for Mr Kenny's medal, which was won by Mr Maoquarie. Reference was made to the loss sustained by the Club owing to the removal from Nelßon of Meßsrs H. Walker and H.
