EXCITING VOYAGE.

Adelaide, August 13«

The steamer, Port Chalmers, 2667 tons, from London to Sydney, has arrived here in a battered condition. Her bowsprit, cutwater, and figure-head are gone, her bow plating is smashed for twenty feet from the water line upwards, and her bows are stove in. On July 27th, after rounding the Cape, she came into collision with an immense iceberg. A hundred tons of ica fell on her starboard side, and the ship was almost capsized. Her bows were stove in and smashed, and as she was making water fast the situation became critical. The boats were swung oot ready to abandon the Teasel, but by keeping the pumps continuously going and patching up the holeß, the crew managed to keep ber afloat. Afterwards she had tern* peßtooos weather, and altogether thoie on board had a most distressing experience. The steamer was only s*ved by the collision bulkheads remaining intact. She has a large general oargo, inoluding a big consignment of dynamite, which is believed not to be seriously damaged.
